Interiors: Halls of Residence

I am going into my second year of University so am moving into an actual house. After a year of living in a box room with grey carpets and orange curtains, I am so excited to move into a proper house and be able to spruce it up a bit more!

There’s only so much you can do with plastic “wooden” furniture and orange curtains…

I did try and make something of my room in halls.

See what I mean about the orange curtains…?

One of my favourite things that spiced the room up a bit was this pom pom bunting that I bought from Rad Studios in Saltaire. I’m not sure it quite covers up the disgusting curtains but it draws the eye elsewhere maybe…? :’)

This blanket is also one of my favourite buys. It’s from the Zara Home sale last year and was literally about 20 quid!

By the end of the year, I did love that room and it made me feel very safe.

My top tips:

  1. Little lights dotted around – the big light that my room came with was a cool, white light which reminded me of being at school and was not at all relaxing. So, I had a few different lights dotted around with warmer coloured bulbs that made the space feel cosier and more welcoming. Fairy lights are also gorgeous, of course.
  2. Plants – I’m literally plant obsessed. I blame a) my mother b) the film ‘Greencard’ which has beautiful interiors and I was made to watch by my mother and c) Pinterest.
  3. Candles – I probably don’t need to say anything more. You don’t need to spend a fortune either. I got a really lovely one from Sainsbury’s for £4 and it lasted ages! The fake Jo Malone ones that Aldi sell smell amazing but don’t last a very long time.
